Amateur spotlight

CHAPTER FOUR

The first mini show I attended was the 1991 Missouri State Fair. It was only 15 miles from the farm, so I thought it would be handy to attend and see how I liked it. I took Magic Man for show and tell, and his sire Shredder. Well Shredder won the Amateur stallions and was 2nd in the open 30"-32". That was all it took to get me started, I immediately made plans to attend the AMHR Nationals in Little Rock, Ark. It was only 30 days away so I had to make a couple of quick decisions on who I would like to show. Of course Magic and Shredder would go,but I also wanted to take a filly. I had a dandy little black tobiano pinto filly picked out and so the process of halter breaking and body clipping began. Well it all paid off as LTD's Spot Cash ended up with 3 National Titles and 1 Reserve, including Mare Foal of Current Year, Junior Mare Champ, Amateur Mare, and Reserve Multi-Color. Her sire Shredder, was also AMHR Reserve National Champion Amateur Stallion, having competed against horses like JJ Lowerys Red Boy, NFC's Fire and Ice and EK's Payoff.

After that there was no turning back, I knew that my breeding program was on the right track and as long as I had minis I would be showing them. In the past 7 years of limited showing LTD horses have accumulated over 39 National and Reserve National Titles in the AMHR and PtHA. My favorite classes to win are the Breeder's Classes. They include the Get of Sire and Owned and Bred By. LTD's Magic Man has been the National and Reserve National Champion Get of Sire for the last two years. His get have proven themselves many times. Since LTD is a home bred, raised, trained and shown operation, this gave me the encouragment that it takes to continue the hard work and dedicated effort that it takes to be successful. LTD is always striving to produce better and better foals and I hope that LTD can continue to produce Nationally competitive horses.
